About · the person behind it

Written from inside the system.

I'm Christian Péan — orthopedic trauma surgeon, CEO and co-founder of RevelAi Health, and faculty at Duke's School of Medicine and the Margolis Institute for Health Policy. Techy Surgeon is my working notebook: what I'm learning at the bedside, in the boardroom, and inside the payment models, written so you can use it.

The mission is simple. Clinicians are drowning in work that machines can now do, while the payment system that shapes their week is being rewritten faster than anyone can read it. This publication attacks both: practical AI workflows that give clinicians their time back, and policy intelligence that tells the people running healthcare what a rule means before their consultants do.

Everything taught here runs my actual week. The practice, the company, and this publication run on the same stack you're learning — that's the credibility test every piece has to pass.

The clinic

Practicing surgeon

Orthopedic trauma at Duke. The workflows are tested on real call weeks, real op notes, and a real inbox — not a demo account.

The company

Founder & operator

CEO of RevelAi Health, building AI care coordination for musculoskeletal medicine. The build lessons come from shipping, not speculating.

The policy room

Duke & Margolis faculty

Health policy from inside the institutions writing about it — which is why the model decodes land within days, not quarters.

The Policy Radar · the second lane

The models are arriving faster than the field can read them.

CMS is shipping payment models at a pace most systems can't absorb. This is the live board — what's in force, what's mandated, what's final — each with the operator's read, not the press release's. The full radar room, live participant map, and engines open with membership.
